Eye Examinations
During your eye exam, we will examine
your eyes inside and out, using the
latest in eye care technology. Your eyes
can reveal an incredible amount of
information about your general health,
in addition to your eye health.
Lifetime Eyecare Center's specially trained and highly skilled
technical staff will perform many
detailed tests using state-of-the-art
technology including:
|
-
Fundus photography-images
the internal structures of the eye
such as the retina, optic nerve,
retinal blood vessels, and
macula.
-
Visual fields-tests
your side vision for evidence of
brain tumors, strokes and glaucoma.
-
Tonometry-measures
your eye's fluid pressure, an
important test for glaucoma.
-
Corneal topography-detects
irregularities in the cornea that
can affect vision. Is important in
contact lens care, and is critical
in pre and post op care for cataract
surgery and LASIK.
-
EPIC computer
assisted refraction-the next
generation in vision testing technology,
using wavefront analysis to
determine your best prescription for
clearer, high definition vision.
-
Optomap retina scan-captures
almost the entire retina in one
image, often without the need for
dilation (additional fee applies).
|
Dr. Hutchins will examine
the external and internal structures of
your eyes to diagnose diseases such as:
|
-
Cataracts-a
loss of clarity of the lens inside
your eye.
-
Glaucoma-when
the fluid pressure in the eye is
damaging the eye's nerve tissue,
causing gradual, permanent vision
loss, without symptoms or warning
signs.
-
Macular degeneration-atrophy
of the central detail vision of the
retina causing gradual vision loss.
-
Retina diseases and
disorders.
-
Diabetic eye disease.
-
Cardiovascular disease-can
be revealed by the appearance of the
retinal vessels.
|
|
Dr. Hutchins will review
all of the information and test results
to make a recommendation concerning your
eye health and visual needs. This may
include glasses, contact lenses, LASIK,
cataract surgery, vision therapy or
prescribing medications for eye
infections, inflammation, or glaucoma. |
